So you want to be a teacher… Okay, the first step to becoming a teacher is to stop making excuses. The second step is to go out there and become a teacher. Sound too simple to be true? Well let’s go down the reasons why you would put it off…
I Do Not Have Time for School
If you do not have time to go to school to become a teacher, well, you do not have to go to school. You can sign up for online courses and have school come to you. Afraid that online degrees are not taken seriously? Nonsense. Today, the vast majority of schools offer online classes, with many graduates of well known and well respected schools having never attended a single day’s class in person.
So that is one excuse down, now on to the next one…
There is Not Enough Work Out There
Okay, if you just want to generalize, then sure, it can be hard to find work in the education field. There are a lot of people out there looking for work that you will have to compete with. However, there is something of a “back door” into the education system. If you find something to specialize in, then you have a really good chance at making it to the top of the list whenever a school is looking for a new teacher or a substitute.
For instance, if you attend special education colleges online, then you can specialize in teaching special education classes. Add to this an art degree, literature degree, and you will be prepared for any number of opportunities when they present themselves. It is all about being multi-talented. If you are able to handle any class, then you can apply for any teaching job.
I Am Too Lazy to Work as a Teacher
Well, you get summers and Christmas season off, so what are you complaining about?
